Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Allen Johnson, 65, of Broken Arrow, OK passed away after suffering from a stroke at St. Johns Medical Center on April 7, 2017. He was born September 17, 1951 in Evansville, IN to Edwin C. & Helen P. Johnson. When he was five, his family went to McKeesport, PA to visit but ended up moving there after his father was offered multiple jobs. In Jr. High & Sr. High he was First Chair as a trombonist in the school bands and when he was a Senior he was a member of the All-State High School Band. Before graduating high school he married his high school sweet heart & joined the US Navy Band as a trombonist. He served on the USS Albany & USS Enterprise in Virginia, Florida & Texas as well as overseas from June 1969 to November 1978. During those years he and his wife were blessed with four children. After the Navy, he received his Bachelor of Arts at Concordia Lutheran College in Austin, TX and his Master of Divinity from Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He was called to churches in Altus, OK, Weatherford, OK, North Zulch, TX & finally Alamo, TX. After retiring he moved to Broken Arrow, OK to be closer to family. Dwayne enjoyed hunting, fishing & literature, including his own works describing his personal life experiences. He was dedicated to show love for his family and friends over love for himself. Dwayne is survived by sons Eric Johnson, Matthew (Joelle) Johnson, daughter, Virginia (Kristerpher) Bilbrey, son, Aaron Johnson; granddaughters Rachel Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Holly Johnson, Hope Johnson & Amelia Bilbrey; mother, Helen Johnson; brother Grant (Cheryl) Johnson, sister Diane (Frank) Caruso, brother Ronald (Kristine) Johnson and many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by Dale Rupert Johnson (brother, 3 years old in 1966), Virginia Ellen Johnson (wife, 31 years old in 1982) and Edwin C. Johnson (Father, 86 in 2016). There will be a memorial of life at a date to be determined in Austin, TX.
