Carlos Ariel Maldonado Lopez

Carlos Ariel Maldonado Lopez, a 2002 graduate of Del City High School and a Del City resident, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, at his mother’s home in Del City, Oklahoma. His family announced the death.
Ariel was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras May 6, 1984, and moved to Greece in 1987, Rapid City, South Dakota in 1992 and to Oklahoma with his parents in 1995. He graduated from Del City High School in 2005 where he made several life-long friends. He finished his basic training at Ft. Leonardwood; served in the U.S. Army’s 45th Infantry Brigade Charlie – Med 700 Support Battalion; after which he worked as an MT. On July 22, 2006, he was in a tragic car accident that severely incapacitated him on July and was since cared for by his mother and step-father. During those years he strived to achieve as much in life as possible. In 2018 he flew with his four-legged buddy, Marley to visit his grandmother in Honduras, visiting friends and family for two weeks.
He is survived by his dear mother, Norma Lyes, step-father Carlos Orengo; his brothers Kenneth Lopez and Christopher Lyes of Del City.
Ariel passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home surrounded by his mother and family members and with Marley and Bella, his constant companions. His sweet spirit will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A memorial service will be hosted at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 3901 S. Sunnylane Rd, Del City, OK 73115, on Saturday, March 5th at 10 a.m. Military Honor Salute and lunch at the church immediately afterward.
